La Cámara de Comercio Latina y su Programa de Desarrollo`en la industria del Entretenimiento y la Cinematografía han trabajado diligentemente para promover esta industria como un generador económico para nuestro Estado y la región. Los esfuerzos combinados de nuestros socios, a través de la Legislación de la Florida y el Gobernador del Estado de la Florida han permitido poner en práctica un programa de incentivo financiero para la Nueva Industria del Entretenmiento en la Florida, con más de 246 millones de dólares en créditos disponibles para producciones calificadas.

• 1) CAMACOL y su Programa Cinematográfico han obtenido grandes logros entre Bollywood/Hollywood, Florida y Latino América,ya que son los socios ideales que permitirán una fuerte presencia en el mercado global.

Por tanto, CAMACOL trabajará arduamente para establecer el enlace de todos los países miembros de la Secretaría Permanente, para promover e incentivar la industria cinematográfica como vínculo de abrigo a co-producciones entre Latino América, Florida
y Bollywood/Hollywood.

Estos esfuerzos culminarán con la celebración del primer Miami Film Market (Primer Mercado Cinamatográfico) como parte de las actividades del 32do. Congreso Hemisférico.

The Miami International Film Festival Partners with BTG Productions Registration Now Open for the Intensive Screenwriting Lab, to be held on Saturday & Sunday, November 14 and 15, 2009

For a second year, the Miami International Film Festival (MIFF) a Miami Dade College (MDC) is partnering with BTG Productions, Miami-Dade Office of Film & Entertainment, The Latin Chamber of Commerce of the United States (CAMACOL) and the Miami Science Museum to offer an intensive Screenwriting Lab for aspiring Florida filmmakers. The two-day Screenwriting Lab, the second round in a series of workshops, will provide participants with critical insights into the various elements of the screenwriting craft:
screenplay format, developing the story, theme, character, plot, synopsis, treatment, scene list, dialogue, and three-act structure. In a compact weekend format, the Screenwriting Lab will instruct aspiring filmmakers on the fundamentals of producing content on film or digital technology. What makes these workshops truly exceptional is the quality and caliber of their award winning instructors, all of whom are produced screenwriters with Hollywood credits.

The screenwriting workshop series was successfully launched in 2008 with a six-day Introduction to Screenwriting course. Participant feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Claudio, an aspiring writer from Miami, wrote, "Not only have I learned valuable information on film writing from skilled and passionate professors but …I now feel more confident and eager to use the given tools for my next project. The workshop has inspired me." Pat, another Lab student, was eager to learn more. "The weekend experience was
tremendous. Everyone that I spoke with took a great deal of information away with them… I hope that Piedad can form an advanced workshop (wink wink)."

Piedad Palacios, producer and president of BTG Productions, is the founder of the series.In building this program, she aims to develop aspiring Florida filmmakers in screenwriting, producing and directing in a nurturing yet collaborative and disciplined environment. In an effort to engage students and tap into the community's top talent, BTG and MIFF will select one Miami Dade College student and one local filmmaker to receive a full scholarship to the workshop.

About the Screenwriting Lab

The Screenwriting Lab will take place Saturday & Sunday, November 14 and 15, at the Miami Science Museum from 10:00AM - 4:00PM (with an hour for lunch).

Participants will acquire the knowledge to write an original story - a short or feature length for either film or digital technology - or rewrite/polish an existing script. Each participant will receive individual attention, discuss their project, and receive feedback from the instructor and peers, simulating the real development process that takes place in a production company or movie studio. Film clips, lecture, pitch sessions, and discussions are incorporated into the program, as well as the business of screenwriting and new digital technologies.

The returning lecturer is award-winning WGA screenwriter, producer, and director Tom Musca. Credits include Stand and Deliver (Academy nomination for best actor), Tortilla Soup, and Gotta Kick It Up! Tom was named Moseley Fellow at Pomona College in 2006.

He was head of the Screenwriting Faculty at the New Mexico Filmmakers Intensive, a post-graduate in the above-the-line film-training program for writers, producers, directors,and editors at the College of Santa Fe in New Mexico. He also conducts MPAA workshops around the world on Screenwriting and Producing. Mr. Musca has several features in development. He holds an M.F.A. in Screenwriting from UCLA film school.

Space is limited to 15 participants. Tuition is $295 plus a $15.00 processing and materials fee. A $75.00 deposit is required to reserve a spot. The Miami International Film Festival uses the unique geographical and cultural position of Miami to be a premiere venue for the exhibition of international and U.S. films, with a special focus on Ibero-American cinema. BTG Productions President and Producer, Piedad Palacios, was the Special Projects Representative for the MPAA in Miami, in charge of workshops, seminars and programming films. She was head of the Sundance Institute's Latino American Film Program where her focus was on filmmakers' workshops and seminars. She is currently producing several features with: Pat Crowley, producer of the "Bourne Ultimatum" series; Pablo Helman, Oscar nominee for "War of the Worlds", Visual Effects on "Indiana Jones, the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull"; Bill Badalato "About Schmidt", "Men of Honor"; Tom Musca, "Stand and Deliver", "Tortilla Soup"; Carolina Films from Spain, Pampa Films from Argentina and Vrtx from China. Ms. Palacios was head of Development at Paloma Productions in Century City, where she reviewed over eight hundred projects. Palacios attended the M.F.A.program at UCLA film school.

Open Casting Call for 15 Short Films (Miami)

The School of Entertainment & Design Technology at Miami Dade College, North Campus, will be holding a casting call for 15 short films directed by talented young filmmakers. The films will be shot in the Miami area from October 3 to November 8, 2009.

More than 40 leading roles will be cast in this unique opportunity for actors from different backgrounds and experience. Actors will receive on-screen credit and a DVD copy of the film.

The auditions will take place on Saturday, September 26, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Miami Dade College, North Campus, Building 2, Room 2147. Please bring a photo/resume with you to the casting call. La Cámara de Comercio Latina (CAMACOL), se unió al liderazgo del Miami Dade College (MDC) y su Festival Internacional de Cine de Miami (MIFF) en la ceremonia de firma de un convenio de cooperación entre ambas entidades, con el propósito de fomentar aún más el negocio cinematográfico en el sur de la Florida. El cine sigue siendo una industria con un gran potencial de crecimiento en la región, por lo que la entidad comercial colaborará más estrechamente con la oficina de la industria del MIFF. El Capitán William Alexander, presidente de CAMACOL y el Dr. Eduardo J. Padrón dejaron suscrito el acuerdo
Durante muchos años, la CAMACOL ha respaldado y apoyado al Festival Internacional de Cine de Miami, como un gran acontecimiento para atraer negocios al sur de la Florida, y dar un mayor auge al perfil de la región en el mundo, propósitos perfectamente afines a la misión de la organización. REUNION DE LA SECRETARIA PERMANENTEACUERDOS Y RECOMENDACIONES

Programa de Desarrollo de la Industria Fílmica
En la ciudad de Tegucigalpa, Honduras, a los ocho días del mes de agosto del 2008 se reunió la Secretaría Permanente del XXX Congreso Hemisférico de Cámaras de Comercio e Industria Latina y se adoptaron los siguientes Acuerdos y Recomendaciones:
Acuerdo # 6:
Se acuerda unánimemente apoyar a la CAMACOL y a su Programa de Desarrollo de la Industria Fílmica y Entretenimiento que ampara la industria fílmica Latina independiente. Este programa conectará las cámaras de comercio a través de toda Latinoamérica, la industria fílmica y del entretenimiento, CAMACOL, y la Oficina Fílmica y del Entretenimiento del Gobernador del Estado de la Florida; , promoverá y llevará aún más adelante esta industria, la que en el 2007 generó $26.7 billones de dólares en ventas en el mundo entero. Por consiguiente, cada Cámara de Comercio integrante del Congreso Hemisférico seleccionará una persona vinculada a la actividad como contacto con la CAMACOL para facilitar la implementación de los objetivos del programa.
Se acuerda además que cada una de las Cámaras de Comercio, por separado, se dirigirán por escrito a la CAMACOL manifestando su apoyo y participación en el Programa.
